We are looking for an Embedded Firmware Engineer to play a key role in new product development and existing product support. Key Responsibilities:

  • Designing and developing software to work with Q-Lab testers, devices, sensors, and other peripherals.

  • Developing control systems algorithms to improve control system performance.
  • Troubleshooting low level controller/software related problems.

  • Knowledgeable with common software development practices and the C programming language.
  • Knowledgeable with common embedded software development IDEs (integrated development environments) and debuggers (e.g. Segger J-Link).
  • Knowledge of communication protocols is a plus (e.g. I2c, SPI).
  • Knowledge of utilizing an oscilloscope for troubleshooting/data collection is a plus.
  • Strong customer-service orientation. Effective interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

  • Perform Acceptance Testing process approved by Product Engineer
  • Duties involve working from test procedures, specifications, mechanical and electrical diagrams and schematics
  • Prepare Testers for startup and test
  • Finish any wiring or assembly operations necessary before connecting power and water lines
  • Check manual operations and safety devices
  • Check for leaks and make necessary repairs
  • Check for wiring errors and make necessary repairs
  • Check for proper components, tags, and programming of Tester
  • Calibrate Testers to Q-Lab’s standards and preprogram customer’s cycles. Verify Testers are capable of performing cycles
  • Purge Tester of any accumulated water, bleed air / water lines, and remove any materials used during the testing process
  • Assign Tester serial numbers, review order documents, verify all line items on the Sales Order are complete
  • Document any unusual conditions and non-conformances encountered
  • Summarize and report issues encountered to Assembly, Quality, and R&D personnel
  • Ensure Acceptance Testing process is completed in a timely manner in order to maintain workflow and meet required ship dates
  • The Acceptance Testing Team will need to adopt a flexible work schedule to avoid production bottlenecks
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement to improve quality & reliability.
  • Participate on continuous improvement teams
  • Maintain equipment used and work area in a clean and orderly condition
  • Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations
  • Perform other department related duties as required, assigned or directed

We Require:

  • Advanced mechanical and electrical skills
  • Functional understanding of the Testers and how the various subsystems relate
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering documents
  • Basic math skills. Basic Statistical skills (e.g. – averages, min value, max value, etc.)
  • Capability to perform mechanical and electrical assemblies
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years assembly background experience in mechanical and/or electrical assemblies and controls or equivalent
  • Use a variety of measuring instruments and gauges such as dial indicators, feeler gauges, pressure gauges, level, tape measure and volt meter, miscellaneous hand tools
  • Successfully meet all training requirements (e.g. – IPC/WHMA standards)
  • Working knowledge of basic computer functions and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Good communication skills – ability to communicate findings both verbally and written to Assembly, Quality Control, and R&D Personnel

Materials Testing Site Manager
 
With total oversight of a small team, this is a hands-on, multi-faceted management position of significant responsibility. Day-to-day, the Site Manager oversees all aspects of our AZ site including staffing, quality of service, equipment up-time, and profitability, while working closely with the Managing Director and other supervisors from the remote Florida office to ensure testing is accurate and timely. Longer term, the Site Manager participates in strategic planning for the facility, particularly in the development of new products/services, and growth of sales opportunities. Through proper planning, the Site Manager must ensure that the site maintains operation 7 days a week, through holidays, and that all tests start or are serviced in a reasonable amount of time. The role will often require wearing many hats and someone with a broad skill-set - even going so far as personally stepping into any role and performing necessary tasks to keep these critical tests going.
