Field Test Technician (Homestead, FL)

Reporting to the Field Marshall, this position will perform natural and artificial weathering tests to determine the outdoor exposure durability of a wide range of materials. Weathering damage causes billions of dollars of product damage each year, and we help our customers determine if their products will last outdoors. We write test reports on the performance of these materials during their exposure. We test all types of products for ability to withstand outdoor degradation due to the weather. We use large weathering fixtures and frames to mount specimens for exposure, and we use various tools and other hardware to create special fixtures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Remove specimens from exposure for the purpose of having evaluations completed on them
  • Remove specimens from exposure and deliver directly to shipping to be returned to customers
  • Remounts existing test specimens when necessary after removal for repair of racks, or to improve exposures
  • Continually consolidate tests on the Q-TRAC’s and AIM Boxes to make room for new tests
  • Re-exposure specimens after evaluations
  • Turn on/off Q-TRAC and AIM Boxes as scheduled
  • Complete Freeze/Thaw process as scheduled
  • Field Checks to maintain exposures correctly
  • Maintains Q-TRAC availability report
  • Maintains AIM Box availability report
  • Coordinates supplies for shipping department and test supplies
  • Other duties as required or necessary

Maintenance Mechanic duties include:

•Focus on maintaining quality services by monitoring quality levels and adjust the service and repair process to ensure testing integrity.

•Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain testing machines and the test facility’s equipment.

•Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.

•Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of testing equipment during operation and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of testing equipment as needed.

•Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities.

•Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of testing machines.

•Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.

•Perform simple machinist skills.

•Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.

•Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to management

•Order parts needed for special projects, routine maintenance requirements, spare parts, tools and equipment needed

Minimum Requirements:

Senior Technical and Business Development Engineer (China)

As the senior technical expert for Asia, assist Q-Lab in promoting weathering, lightfastness,and corrosion testing equipment and test services in Asia at key Distributors, customers, GB/ISO/ASTM standards groups, and in various technical forums.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support customers and the network of existing Distributors by answering in-depth technical questions about the products and test services through daily correspondence and periodic visits.
