Netherlands - Weathering & Atmospheric Corrosion Two-Day Introductory Seminar

Learn the Fundamentals of Weathering & Lightstability Testing, and Atmospheric Corrosion. This two-day event will be presented by Q-Lab and Benelux Scientific BV in the Netherlands. Join us on 09-10 April 2025.

Technical Experts from Q-Lab and Benelux Scientific BV, Q-Lab's authorized representative in the Netherlands, will provide practical, easy-to-understand information explaining the fundamentals of weathering and lightstability, as well as an overview of corrosion in outdoor environments with a special focus on modern techniques for conducting accelerated testing of corrosion prevention strategies.

Day 1 - Introduction to Weathering (W101)

Attendees will learn:

  1. Forces of Weathering: how sunlight, heat, and water can damage materials
  2. Outdoor weathering testing, natural and accelerated
  3. Laboratory weathering testing with xenon-arc and fluorescent UV tester technologies
  4. Selecting test standards and developing weathering test programs
  5. Correlation between lab and outdoor testing with Case Studies

Day 2 - Atmospheric Corrosion (AC101)

Our team will review:

  1. Fundamentals of corrosion, including chemistry, forms, and mitigation
  2. Outdoor corrosion testing and environmental characterization
  3. Laboratory accelerated corrosion testing history, from early continuous salt spray standards to modern cyclic testing
  4. Realistic testing for better correlation to actual service environments
  5. Best practices for laboratory corrosion, including test monitoring and verification, and specimen evaluation

Attendees will also have the opportunity to discuss their applications and ask questions. Refreshments and course materials will be provided.
