Synthetic Fibers
Case Study
Last Updated 2011
A major global manufacturer and supplier of synthetic textiles was looking to use their Q-SUN Xe-3 to optimize the amount of UV stabilizers in their formulation, for internal cost-reduction purposes.
The customer designed an experiment to test various levels of the expensive UV to see how reductions affected mechanical strength after exposure. From their testing, they were able to reduce significantly the amount of inhibitor in their thermoplastic fiber formulation, to the point of saving approximately $10,000 per month – all without a measurable reduction in material properties.
After only a short duration of having its tester operational, the customer was able to say that the Q-SUN Xe-3 had already paid for itself.
